Henry TAYLOR WYSE

Dates: 1870-1951

Born in Scotland, he was a painter, ceramicist and writer. He taught art at Arbroath High School, where he was a friend of the artist James Watterson Herald (1859-1914), before moving to Edinburgh. He painted landscapes in pastel and watercolour but also decorated ceramics and wrote books on painting and typography including 'Modern Type Display and the Use of Type Ornament', Edinburgh, 1911. He produced studio pottery in Edinburgh between 1920-1935 at the Holyrood Pottery
