Kang Hyo LEE (Korea)Dates: b. 1961
Born in South Korea he lives and works in Chunchong. He studied at Hongik University, Seoul and later studied the making of Ongii wares with master Mangyang Li (a building method using long slabs of clay placed on edge). He works in the traditional Korean 'Punchong' style throwing his often large pots on a traditional wooden momentum wheel and firing in an anagama kiln. He uses slips and decorates with strong brush stokes and finger marks. He has exhibited widely throughout the world and demonstrated both the traditional wooden wheel and his making methods at the International Potters Festival Aberystwyth in 1999. |
