Peter SMITHDates: b. 1941Originally trained as a research chemist and continued to work in this field while attending evening classes in ceramics. In 1974 he started his own pottery, Bojewyan in Cornwall, where he continues to work making sculpture as well as ceramics. While some of his work, made in earthenware is fired and decorated with slip, some is left unfired as he seeks to preserve the basic shapes and tactile characterists of coils, blocks and wedges found on any potter's bench. Their stability is maintained by the addition of cement. |
