Peter BEARD
Dates: b. 1951
He studied industrial design and furniture design at Ravensbourne College of Art while maintaining an interest in ceramics first kindled as a child. Having helped set up a pottery in Scotland making thrown domestic pieces, he moved to Kent to set up his own studio, making one off pieces. His work is both thrown and hand built oxidised stoneware, using shiny, matt and semi-matt glazes built up in layers to create textural surfaces largely in a range of pastel shades. He now lives and works in Leamington Spa. Peter Beard is a Fellow of the Craft Potters Association and author of 'Resist and Masking Techniques' published by A&C Black (1996). |
