Michael CARDEW


Oval earthenware pie dish in red body with heron design in dark slip over white covered in dark galena glaze. Such oval plates were made circular, then a piece was sliced out of the middle and the two halves stuck together to form the oval shape. They were usually made by Elijah Comfort.
