Michael CARDEW

Oval earthenware pie dish in red body decorated with dark brown slip-trailed over white slip, the whole covered in clear galena glaze. These oval plates were made circular, then a piece was sliced out of the middle and the two halves stuck together to form the oval shape. They were usually made by Elijah Comfort.
