Daniel SMITH

Dates: 1971

He grew up in Somerset where his parents (both chefs) ran a restaurant and he first became interested in tableware. He studied ceramics at Harrow College, and was taught to throw by West Marshall and Kyra Kane. He was influenced particularily by Victor Margie in choosing to make domestic thrown porcelain. He set up his first workshop in Mile End London in 1994which he now shares with Mo Jupp amongst others He produces thrown domestic porcelain in basic shapes with clear or coloured glazes.
