	Frank VINING Dates: 1924-1989 Born in Aberfan he continued to live and work in Wales for all his life. He studied at Cardiff College of Art under Ceri Richards and went on to teach for over 34 years, establishing the ceramics course there in the 1960s. Initially his work, made from local clay, was influenced by medieval pottery but he later became interested in early Japanese and Chinese pottery and like many potters in the 1960s turned to working in stoneware. After the 1960s his work shows the influence of modern design and takes the form of simple sculptural vessels with minimal decoration.
