	Gabriela NIEPO-STIELDORF (Germany) Dates: b. 1948 She was born in Austria and changed her career from teaching and medicine to ceramics in the mid 1980s. She studied at the summer academy Innsbruck, with Profs. S.Hafner and Imre Schrammel and later travelled and worked intenationally in Italy, Japan and Switzer. In 1991 she participated in the International Ceramics Festival in Aberystwyth and fired the piece in the collection in a paper kiln assisted by fellow Austrian Gerhild Tschachler-Nagy.In 1998 she recieved a Silver medal at the 4th International Biennale Cairo/Egypt. She explores the energy of clay, and has said that the inspiration for her sculptural forms often comes to her in half sleep. Her recent work consists of body casts.
