Jim MALONE

Dates: b.1946

Born in Sheffield he studied at Camberwell School of Art between 1973 and 1976. During this time he also spent a year with Ray Finch at Winchcombe Pottery. Between 1976 and 1982 he worked in North Wales. He now lives in Wigton, Cumbria with a solo studio near York where he works creating individual pottery forms in high fired stoneware and some porcelain. Thrown on a traditional Korean type wheel, the work is fired in an oil and wood burning oriental climbing kiln. As a potter it has always been his endeavour to communicate beauty. Jim Malone is included on the British Crafts Council index of selected craftsmen and is a Fellow of the Craftsmen Potters Association. He has exhibited widely in the UK as well as America, Germany and Hong Kong.
