	John DAVIES Dates: b. 1947c John Davies studied sculpture at Newport College of Art followed by a postgraduate year in Holland before returning to the UK in 1969. He taught Art in secondary schools in London between 1970 and 1979 but became dissatisfied with the quality of Art education in schools as well as being unable to find time to develop his own work. He left teaching and studied ceramics at Harrow for two years and set up his workshop in Wales in 1982, where he produced sculptural yet functional salt glazed pots . These pieces were purchased from his Ceramic Series exhibtion in Aberystwyth Arts Centre in 1984.
