Sculptor, generally known as 'Joe Descomps'. Studied in Paris under the sculptor Louis Auguste Hiolin (1846-1910), and regularly exhibited at the Salon where he was made a full member in 1893. He designed and sculpted Art Deco figures, particularly female nudes, in bronze, terracotta, ivory and porcelain. Some of his work was reproduced by the Pouyat Company of Limoges and by Edmund Etling & Cie. of Paris
