Masahrio MORI (Japan)Dates: b. 1927Born in Saga Ken Japan, in 1956 he became chief designer for Hakusan Porcelain Company, and set up his own company in 1978. He is recognized for his design of pieces for daily use, showing that artistic form can be created in mass produced porcelain. His work has been exhibited widely and he has received many awards for design. The first was in 1960 for his design for a soya sauce bottle, a shoyusashi, and more recently won the Gold Prize of the Japan Ceramic Society in 1999. |
