Patricia Kelly studied ceramics during evening classes until redundancy from her office job allowed her to pursue a full time career as a maker. She attends local agricultural events with her farmer husband and observes the characters and culture within the farming community, which include insider humour and references. She creates colourful characters based on country themes with chickens on their caps or bathing with sheep, each given a playful title. She also makes a range of large and small domestic animal figures. Her work is individually hand built using grogged earthenware and decorated with slips, under glazes and glazes. She is a member of the Craft Potters Association and South Wales Potters. |
