Piet STOCKMANSDates: B. 1940He trained in ceramics (1963, PHIKO Hasselt) and learned to work with porcelain in Selb, Germany and Limoges, France. He became the house designer with the Dutch porcelain factory Royal Mosa, in Maastricht , Netherlands (1966-1989) and designed the well known coffee cup, 'Sonja'. He became professor of ceramic design at the Design Academy in Eindhoven (1983 - 1985 ) and the professor of Industrial Design at the Design Academy in Genk (1969-1998). In 1998 he received the Henri van de Velde prize for outstanding career achievement. From 1997 to 1999 he was an external examinator of the Royal College of Art, London. He has been a freelance artist since 1989 and produces industrial ceramics, a studio collection and ceramic installation art works. |
