European ROYAL COPENHAGENDates:The firm was founded in 1771 and specialized in porcelain but in the late nineteenth century was taken over and began to produce mass-produced earthenware. These works were probably designed by Bode Willumsen (1895- 1987), one of the chief designers who is noted for vases with fantastic animal forms around the handles or spouts. The firm, although best known for its porcelain, had a policy of employing artists to work alongside the main production. Stoneware was reserved for these more specialised wares. |
