	Paolo STACCIOLI (Italy) Dates: b.1943 Born in Scandicci, Florence, Italy he left school at 13. In 1970s he first developed his career as a painter but since 1989 has worked mainly in ceramics. Largely self taught, at first he painted on ceramics but after attending a ceramic studio in Faenza, a major centre for ceramics in Italy, he developed other techniques including hand modeling and reduction firing. His expressive modeled sculptures of horses, cherubs and warriors make fleeting references to ancient stories and myths. He has taken part in several of the Biennale held at the Museum of Ceramics in Faenza and in 1999 he demonstrated at the International Ceramics Festival in Aberystwyth.
