Susan NEMETH

Dates: b.1957

Born in Adelaide, Australia she trained in the UK at Bourneville School of Art and Wolverhampton Polytechnic in the 1970s. She lives and works in London. She makes porcelain vases, bowls and decorative plates in which the decoration is integral to the body. Known as Agateware stained porcelain slips are layered and inlaid, rolled and stretched to give high density layers of coloured clay. The matt finish is achieved by sanding between firings. In 1990 she won the Inax Design Prize. Susan Nemeth is on the Crafts Council Selected Index and is a Fellow of the Craft Potters Association.
