	Svend BAYER Dates: Born in Uganda of Danish parents, he studied at the University of Exeter before joining Michael Cardew at Wenford Bridge in 1968. Since 1975 he has worked at Duckpool Cottage on the oustskirts of a remote Devonshire village, chosen for its close proximity to supplies of good ball clay and a saw mill which supplies him with off cuts to fire the massive kiln which he has built.
