Vaclav SERAC (Czech Republic)Dates: b. 1931Born in Cakovice in the Czech Republic he has worked in ceramics since the age of 16. His practice has ranged from industrial design in porcelain for both decorative pieces and tableware to sculptural and architectural work. His work is characterized by the use of pieces of wheel thrown forms torn and cut and then reconstructed into sculptural forms. He has work in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum as well as in Faenza and his native Prague. Vaclav Serak is Professor at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague. In 1993 he demonstrated his work at the International Ceramics Festival in Aberystwyth. |
