The factory opened in 1751 and much of its early work was painted in blue under the glaze. It was the first factory in the UK to develop transfer printed decoration on porcelain on a large scale. In 1789 the factory was granted a Royal warrant and by the late 18th century, was making services for royalty. The business continued to expand and be innovative in creating both shapes and designs of the highest quality which makes it much sought after by collectors. In 2001 it celebrated its 250th year of continuous production however the factory at Worcester closed in 2006 and the firm is now based in Stoke on Trent.
